Best Camping Clotheslines in Australia – How To Dry Clothes Quickly

No matter if you head out camping once a year or every second weekend, one thing you will never escape from is dirty clothes.

While not something that springs to mind as the first thing you need to pack into your car – the ability to wash clothes and then have them dry for repeated use is actually a great way to keep your clothes fresh without taking your entire wardrobe with you.

In most parts of Australia, drying your clothes requires just a couple of hours in the sun and a camping clothesline is the best way to do this. Today we are reviewing the best camping clotheslines in Australia.

Best Camping Clotheslines Australia

Companion Portable Clothes Line

Companion Portable Clothes Line

Our Pick

Pros
  • Rotating four-arm clothesline
  • Adjustable height
  • Carry bag
  • Anchoring pegs
Cons
  • Can be unstable in windy conditions

When it comes to drying clothes, many of Australia’s backyards across the country have a rotary clothesline so why not take a mini version with you out camping?

The Companion Portable Clothesline is exactly that – a small camping rotary clothesline you can take anywhere. It is lightweight and sets up in seconds and comes with pegs so you can anchor it down to the ground too.

The aluminium frame has been coated with silver oxide to give it a longer life so your clothes will wear out before this clothesline does.

It's hard to find a fault with the Companion as the customer reviews are all almost five stars, however, there are some reports of it falling over in high winds.

Even so, it comes with pegs to keep it anchored and you just can't go wrong with this clothesline as it will last years and get your clothes dried every time.

CampEzi Clothesline

CampEzi Clothesline

Runner Up

Pros
  • 4 arms
  • Pegs for anchoring included
Cons
  • Doesn’t rotate

The CampEzi Clothesline is a similar looking product as the Companion, however, this one doesn't rotate, which is not really much of an issue to be fair. It is also made from aluminium with PVC rope to hang your clothes from and allow them to dry.

This camping clothesline is a solid buy and customer reviews reflect this with almost everyone giving it a five-star rating and it comes in a little bit cheaper than the Companion too.

There really is no downside to this lightweight, affordable camping clothesline as it will have your clothes drying in the Aussie sun in no time.

Wanderer Folding Campsite Clothesline

Wanderer Folding Campsite Clothesline

Honourable Mention

Pros
  • 6 lines with 15 m of hanging space
  • Compact design
  • Includes carry bag
Cons
  • Supporting arms sag
  • Lines can go loose

The Wanderer Folding Campsite clothesline is a slightly smaller model than the previous two, however, the lines are designed to hold a large load of laundry and can handle the whole family’s clothes in one go.

This is an odd product in that the exact model has been around for years and has received glowing reviews, however, the 2022 model appears to be a little substandard.

Many consumers love theirs so much they bought a newer one only to find it falls over, the arms go saggy and the lines go loose, which is not going to be great for durability or just getting your clothes dry.

Best to stay clear of this model unless you find it on special at a bargain price or its older stock.

Companion Quick-Fold Clothes Stand

Companion Quick-Fold Clothes Stand

Best For Big Loads

Pros
  • 57cm wide rails
  • Sturdy construction
  • Foot stoppers to increase grip
Cons
  • Not as strong as it looks
