Design

The GenTrax 800W is a compact, portable generator that is very handy for a 1-2 person camping trip. It’s 389mm long, 209mm wide, 200mm tall, and only 8.5kg in weight making it easy to carry and easy to store even on campsites where you have to walk some way from the car.

The Gentrax 2000W is the bulkiest 2000W generator, however, it is also the lightest among 2000W generators that we’ve looked at so far. It only weighs 18.5kg which is 1.5kg lighter than the Yamaha EF2000IS and 3.5kg lighter than the Engel R2000IS.

Both units look the same except for the size and the number of AC outputs. The 2000W has 2 AC outputs while the 800W only has 1.

For portability, both models have a central handle for suitcase-like carry similar to all portable generators.

Unsurprisingly, the bigger 3500W has more to offer in terms of design and functionality compared to the 2 smaller GenTrax generators.

It has two AC outlets, an LCD digital display that shows the output and running time, one 12V car cigarette outlet, and a built-in 5V USB port. It’s 614mm long, 341mm wide, 506mm tall, and weighs only 38kg.

The front panel of the GenTrax 6000W looks very similar to the 3500W but with one extra AC outlet.

GenTrax 3500W Inverter Generator Design

At 750mm long, 547mm wide, 630mm tall, and weighing 89kg, it's the biggest, heaviest but also the most powerful GenTrax generator available.

Of course, the trade-off with these larger units is their reduced portability. 89kg is pretty hefty, so you won’t want to be moving it around too often.

Both the 3500W and the 6000W have 2 sets of handles for 2-person carry and 2 sets of wheels for easier manoeuvrability.

Overall, the GenTrax generators are simple, solid, and compact. There’s nothing special in terms of design and functionality since this design is very common among generators in the market.

One thing Gentrax could’ve improved on with regards to its design is the access to the oil filler cap. You have to remove the whole side panel to get access to it. Plus, you have to unscrew 4 screws to remove it.

Power Specs

The GenTrax generators have 4 models with different maximum power outputs, all powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHV gasoline engine like most inverter generators in the market.

There’s not much you can do with the 800W generator besides lighting up your campsite or charging your devices. Maybe use a slow cooker or a blender. But even so, you can’t do them all at once.

Despite having a 2.1L fuel capacity and can run at 50% load for up to 6 hours, It will always be limited by its small maximum power output.

That said, I do not recommend the 800W generator for motorhome owners or someone who needs to use the generators for more than lighting a campsite or charging a device.

GenTrax 800W Inverter Generator Power Specs

The GenTrax 2000W, however, is the sweet spot for most campers. At a rated AC output of 1700W, it has enough power to run a small fridge, cools your drinks and meat, as well as charge a few devices - all at the same time!

It has a 4.5L fuel capacity and can run up to 9 hours.

The 3500W generator is enough to run air conditioning, lights, microwave, and charge the caravan batteries simultaneously. And it's small enough not to take too much space in the caravan.

Most experienced caravan owners will recommend a 3500W generator for small to medium-sized caravans. This will let you run your caravan air conditioner as well as most other appliances in your van.

It's also great for days when the sun isn't shining and your solar panels can't get the job done.

GenTrax 6000W Inverter Generator Power Specs

If you need the generator to run a food truck business, or a backup generator for your business, the GenTrax 6000W generator won’t let you down. It has enough power to run most of your appliances simultaneously.

It has a fuel capacity of 18.5L and has a rated running time of 4:30 mins which is typical for most 6000W generators.

All models of GenTrax generators run on petrol and are very efficient. They also have an eco mode to further improve fuel efficiency.

Another thing we like most about the GenTrax generators is that it’s super quiet. It’s rated only 58 dB at 7 meters which is similar to the sound of 2 people talking gently.

Furthermore, the GenTrax generator uses pure sine wave technology which means you can safely charge your sensitive electronics.

Known Issues & Warranty

Known Issues

In general, GenTrax generators are considered reliable and high-quality generators in the budget range.

However, customers have reported having trouble with starting the generators after turning them off to refuel.

Warranty

While most premium generators offer a 3-4 years warranty period, GenTrax only offers a 12-month warranty period against defects in materials and workmanship. It’s one of the shortest warranty periods in the market but is similar to other generators in the budget range.

They also offer a 60-day money-back guarantee as long as the unit is returned in its original condition.

In terms of honoring the claims, GenTrax has no known issues of unreasonably voiding warranty claims or making it difficult for customers to access services within the warranty period.

Price

At its current price, the GenTrax generator is one of the cheapest generators in the market. But contrary to what you usually expect in a cheap product, the majority of GenTrax customers seem to be happy with the quality and reliability of the product.

GenTrax performs as well as the premium generators despite being less than half their price. And because of that, we consider the GenTrax generators to be a good value for your money.
