How To Put A Caravan Cover On – Step By Step Guide

Rain, dirt, tree sap, and scratches to your caravan’s bodywork. These are some of the things that you need to protect your caravan from. This is why a lot of caravan owners cover their caravan when not in use. But how do you put a caravan cover on easily?

In this article, I will show you step by step how to put a caravan cover on. Our goal is to help you fit a caravan cover as easily and as quickly as possible.

This is useful if you are not planning on using the van for a while and want to put it into storage in Brisbane.

8 Steps To Fitting a Caravan Cover

No matter what kind of caravan cover you are using, the process is pretty much the same.

Fitting a caravan cover requires two people working together. So grab a partner and go through these steps in order.

Step 1: Lay down the caravan cover

The first step is to lay down the caravan cover at the front part of the caravan. Position the cover so that if the front panel of the cover and the A-frame of the caravan are the head of two arrows, both arrows are facing the same direction.

Step 2: Insert the A-frame cover

Put on the A-frame cover that is separate from the main cover.

Step 3: Roll the front part of the caravan cover

To be able to fit the caravan cover easier, roll the front part of the cover so that it doesn’t interfere when you’re fitting it through the caravan.

Pro-tec covers call this the “easy fit system” but most caravan covers have this feature as well.

Step 4: Insert the poles

Insert the poles to the D-rings or pocket located at the top part of the rear panel of the caravan cover. There are D-rings or pockets at both sides of the caravan cover intended for two poles.

Step 5: Lift cover into place using the poles

Using the poles, lift the caravan cover so that it is higher than the caravan then move forward together with your partner pushing the cover to the rear part of the caravan until the entire roof is covered.

Step 6: Roll down the back panel

Unfasten the straps holding the back panel of the caravan cover so that the entire caravan is covered.

Then, use the velcro or zipper to secure the back panel in place.

Step 7: Secure the straps of the main cover

There are straps with built-in clips designed to secure the main cover into the caravan.

Using the fitting poles, pass the straps to the other side of the caravan. Then, fasten the clips and tighten the straps as necessary.

Step 8: Secure the main cover to the A-frame cover

Lastly, secure the main cover to the A-frame cover by fastening the velcro.

You can see these steps in action in this video below.

Conclusion

Your caravan doesn’t have to be exposed to the sun and other environmental factors. By putting on a caravan cover, you will be able to protect your caravan and prolong its lifespan.

Fitting a caravan cover to your caravan is fairly simple when you follow the steps detailed above.
